Prelude
SPACE envisages that the transformation of the existing realities of life is a process, and in the context of Bangladesh, social inequalities, disparities, inconsistencies, violation of rights, deprivation is intrinsic to this process, so, instead of absorbing it further, it is prudent to address the process to change the course as of the need. This may seems to be a ‘dream’, however, a relentless effort may take the organization as close as possible to the ‘dream’.
Vision
SPACE strongly believe that social change is feasible if insights are gained and effective efforts are taken, which may begin in a micro level.

Approaches
SPACE is fully aware of the fact that real strengths for any social change lie with the community members and if the people participate actively in the process and support the changewith their initiatives and resources. Therefore, the approach of SPACE is to facilitate people’s initiatives and ensure their participation in programs, while SPACE will be with them, within them and one of them. Household based facilities will be the key-approach of SPACE.The rationale for adopting such approach is the assumption that the existing community options and facilities are used by all segments of inhabitants of rural areas in which poorer sections are constrained in accessing facilities compare to resourcefuls. In this context, if the resourceful are made self-reliant, then the community facilities will be left to use for the poor. Further, if the facilities are own by households, then they may maintain it, use on a regular basis, help avoid physical hazards caused when options at a distant place is used and lastly, it would ensure privacy.

Leagal status
SPACE is registered at the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB) under Foreign Donation Registration (FDR), and Joint Stock Company under the Society Act Registration, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

Source of finance
The ultimate goal of SPACE is to be self-reliant. However, as it is yet to be achieved, limited financial assistance from national and international development partners are included in the program. SPACE is seeking new development partners to expand its network that would facilitate expansion of programs in new areas.
